On my U6S with XP it worked right away. But I decided not to use a password on my machine yet, so I disabled it. LemonScreen is still beta, check the forum on their website, you might get help and info. It seems to work for some, but they're having trouble sorting out some bugs they can't reproduce...

It is indeed finicky. I first set it up with my ugly mug lit on one side from a window, and it didn't know me in artificial light. I've expanded the photo library to 54 shots under various conditions, and now it works every time. All a bit of a gimmick, but it's great to amaze people with!

Worked flawlessly for me on my F8sv-b1. After installation, it took some snapshots of my awesome face :D and when I relogged it was there. I couldn't find the F8sv version so I used the U6 version from the link that pepeporras provided...

it is definatly really cool but - to use as a main security app its not really secure, all someone needs to do is take a picture on their phone, or from an album, another computer, or what ever and hold it up to the camera and boom their in....

    cool though really cool...

it does not work that way. the software maps a 3d model of the face. it does not take a picture of it. It measures the distance between the eyes, the distance from the nose to the ears and stuff like that. It can not measure this from a simple picture. To fool it you would need a 3d replica of the face. It would not have to be exact but you would need to know what exactly the software looks for. If it looks for the distance from nose to ear and the distance from lip to chin then that is all you would have to recreate.

I tried holding up a photo of myself close to the camera and it logged me in.
The security slider was in the middle when I tried that and I only took two sets of my face.

Uh well this isn't really a secure logon method. It's more like a technology gimmick that looks cool. A password will offer much better security.

Heh :) I don't think it should be removed, at least it shows that the face recognition thing sucks. :)

People should use a password or maybe the fingerprint reader. I still think the password is the most convenient and secure method.

Face login, is a fun gimmick...but it relies on lighting conditions so if you go from a dark room to a more lightly lit one it doesn't work or so on. I've been typing in my password lately, but it is an eye catching thing along with the turbo engine and chicks dig it at the cafe :p

Now you have to hide your camera phone to protect your laptop. Oh, this is getting to be silly but still fun. Just like network shows on TV.

This got me thinking  has anyone tried putting an eyeball close to the camera on the notebook and recording that for recognition instead of the whole face?

It might be more secure (not exactly a retinal or iris scan, but it could work better than a face). Someone trying to take a picture of your eyeball in order to fool your notebook would have a difficult road ahead of him/her. ;)

Such a silly gimmick! I might use it for a week or two, but the security holes are limitless, and the fingerprint reader might be just a little bit more secure, but as Vicious said in another thread, it's quite easy to take someones fingerprint off their keyboard and use it to fool the fingerprint recognition.

That eyeball idea is an interesting one though. Might have a LOOK into that! (dum-dum-cha)

I can type my password faster than I can wait for the program to start and initiate the web cam (takes like maybe 10 seconds or more) and then I find that it doesn't like to recognize me if the lighting changes, or maybe even my hair or shirt so I uninstalled it as its just bloatware to me and slows down my start time.

I think the program is optimized for recognizing faces. Not sure it'll be able to recognize eyes only, and if it does, then probably it doesn't detect distinctive enough features to differentiate between eyes from different people.

It's not like it's able to do a retinal scan. :)

This is just a fancy, useless program. Use a strong password, and change it regularly.
