I recently replaced my hp zx5078cl with a new ASUS F3SA. Wow! What was I ever doing with an hp notebook? BUY THE ASUS F3SA for $999 at NEWEGG.

Anyway, after cutting my teeth on Vista, I have installed as many of the new drivers as I could find on the ASUS website. Now whenever I reboot the notebook I receive 4 notices about programs trying to run: IAANOTIF.exe (an Intel utility), IaNvSrv.exe (an Intel utility), and 2 other Synaptics executables (drivers/utilities for the touchpad). Is there a way to tell Vista to trust these programs and load them without a prompt?

Also, do you have favorite memory configuration suggestions? I have the 1 GB Korean chip (hynix brand) now and was wondering whether or not I should install 2 matching 2GB chips for dual channel mode or just add 1 nonmatching 2 GB chip. Opinions?

Where are you receiving these notices? If its from Windows Defender, there should be an option to allow these programs to run at startup.

    Read the Ram thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=121363

In short, any manufacturer of Ram will do as long as it is compatible with the motherboard, in your case most its most likely 200-pin DDR2 667 so-dimm.

I receive these notices immediately after startup. The language used reads exactly like the language used after downloading a program and attempting to install it. Strange.

I am a little surprised that using the updated drivers posted on the ASUS website results in this startup snag.

Here is an image of one of the "Open File - Security Warning" notices I receive at startup. Is there a way to make these nuisances go away, or is this just life with Vista?

I don't know but there should be a way... Sorry this is not very helpful, I've not used Vista much. Probably editing the security properties of those EXE files should do the trick.

Maybe try and un-check the box that says: "always ask before opening this file". :D

You could also try to disable the UAC...

ive had the same issue with NHC being stoped by windows defender..I have to manually enable it each and everytime which i think is a real pain.

My question is!! is it really worth havings windows defender installed?? can i just uninstall it! or would it have greater impact if i run VISTA without the windows defender...

If you uninstall, install another firewall. Nowadays it's pretty much suicidal to run without a firewall.

I have unchecked the box several times now. No change. Nice try.

Here's what I tried that I think has finally fixed this startup snag:

    1 - Turn off UAC.
2 - After restart, uncheck the "ask before opening this file" box and install Digital Certificates.
    3 - Turn on UAC.
4 - After restart, no "Open File - Security Warning" notices popped up.

I think the UAC was the problem -- it just does not allow Vista to receive important input from users. Not much of a Control, in my opinion, if it cannot interact with user input.
