I have had so many issues with this F5Z since purchasing...

The last problem I am having (and have no idea how to fix) is this:

Some days ago I think I accidentally used the Asus shortcut keys (I held Fn + pressed some KEY) and the "presentation settings" popped up. (the thing found under Control Panel - Mobile PC - Adjust Settings Before Giving a Presentation).

I closed it down, no problem... But NOW, EVERY time I start my computer the "presentation settings" icon is at the bottom right, ACTIVATED ("I am currently giving a presentation" is always marked"). My computer thus starts up with ALL my desktop icons invisible/gone.

I don't know how to stop this from starting up every time I start my computer. I have disabled it numerous times, have gone into msconfig.exe and disabled everything unessential, but it keeps appearing

Oh yea, did I mention, I can't see any of my desktop icons?

How do I disable this from starting up every time?

It may have to do with your current Power4Gear setting (triggered by pressing Fn+Space?). When mine is in Quiet Office mode, it enables presentation settings. You can try switching power modes or you can customize the specific P4G setting so that it doesn't enable presentation mode.

Yes I am in Quiet Office mode.

Before I got your message however, I uninstalled Asus HOTKEYS, and the problem went away. But I think if I install ASUS HOTKEYS back, it might return, so I will have to change the Quiet Office mode to not go into enable presentation settings - any idea on how I do this?

I have tried (Right Click Desktop - Personalize - Screen Saver - Change Power Settings - Change Plan Settings - Change Advanced power settings). I've expanded all the options that are available but I can't see which one should relate o "presentation settings"

I'm at work and don't have my Asus with me, but I think if you go to Power Options in the control panel, there is an option on the left side of the window that says Power4Gear Extreme.

If you run that it will pop up a window that looks like this:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&share=icon/energy (there may be an easier way to get here but I haven't stumbled across it yet).
I don't see the presentation mode setting in this screenshot, but I think there is one in the version that came with my G50. Make sure to click Save before you go fiddle with any of the settings in the other modes otherwise it will not remember the changes, contrary to what we are used to with standard options/settings boxes. This applies even if you switch back and forth between the On Battery and Plugged In radio buttons.

Hope that helps, let me know if you can't find P4G and I will post a screenshot when I get home, if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Looking at this here, "Presentations Settings" appears to be part of Vista rather than an ASUS add-on. I don't know what combination of keys you used to start it the first time, but, a little play with the settings suggests what the problem is now.

Open the "Presentations Settings" and click on the "Connected displays" button at the bottom. This lists the current displays that are attached. Mine only has "Generic PnP Monitor". Under this is a check box that says "I always give a presentation when I use this display configuration". When I had this checked and rebooted, the presentation icon was in the tray. Unchecking this fixed things.
