Hi, I have the ASUS G1S notebook and the cooling fan is going out, I can replace by myself but I can't find one in stock. I am in extended warranty from Best Buy, but in past experience it takes forever. I can take it to local PC shop but it will be 7-10 business days this way. Is there anywhere I can just order the fan that anyone knows of? I cringe at being without my PC for that long so I am just hoping someone may know something I don't I guess.

Send it in for warranty if it is under warranty. Also, why did you buy Best Buy's warranty? Their warranty policy is really really bad. Next time, buy the extended warranty from ASUS. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Well, turns out I didn't buy Best Buy's warranty or the ASUS warranty, I have no warranty lol. My husband thought he got the extended but that was for a camcorder lol. Anyway, I went to the PC shop, they cannot get a fan for this model either, every distributer is 'out of stock' :( nor can they find one they could rig to work. So I will be shipping it off to ASUS tomorrow I guess.

Before that, call the eStore and see if they can order the part for you. And if not, call the ASUS service point and see if they can get the part for you.

If you send it in you will be paying shipping & labor, a larger sum (by one order of magnitude) than the cost of the fan itself.

Here's the direct link to the G1 series page for ordering parts in the US Asus eStore.

The keyword in my message is "call". If it's not on stock, call to speak with a rep and see when they get it in stock or if they can order it for you, from Taiwan.

THANK YOU! I will call tomorrow, other things have taken priority (yeah pretty bad when more important than my PC) lately, but think that is settled now. I really appreciate the advice much. :)

Well, so much for that now today I get
We are currently out of stock with the the following item in your order:

    13GNLB1AM060-1 G1S-1A CPU FAN

A shipment is expected to arrive at our facility within 2 weeks from now.

You may choose to have this item pending so we will automatically ship to you when it becomes available or you may cancel the order for a full refund (including shipping charges).

Grrr, so do you think that really means within 2 weeks? Would it be faster for me to just go ahead and ship it off and pay repair? I am out of work with this mess. I am not sure what to do now.

Probably would be faster to send it in, that way they can check everything else out too
