This may be a stupid question, however I dont have much experience with e-sata.

I have a asus G1S and I am trying to determine whether or not my e-sata port provides power. I want to buy something that runs off of bus power and is compatible with e-sata, but I'm not sure that my port provides power (I have assumed that it did not).

If anyone can confirm for me whether or not it is powered it would be extremely helpful...

thanks for any help in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum!

eSATA ports does not provide a power supply and most eSATA external drives will require an additional power supply (either from a power adapter or via USB).

If i bought a external hard drive that was bus powered and i connected via both USB and E-sata which would it transfer data through?
