I received my g1s about 2 months ago. But recently i installed everest ultimate edition to check my temperatures. They seemed a bit high on idle (surfing the net). The fan is almost always on at 100% in high performance mode. I also noticed that the gpu clock seemed different then what nvidia specifies on its site however the memory clock seems fine. Im wondering if the g1s is overclocked as stock? does anyone else have the same numbers? see images
I keep my laptop on the table...i dont use it on soft surfaces.

    thanks!

Is that on idle or performance mode? If its on Idle that's high... You might want to check out Undervolting the CPU a bit... it won't drastically change the temperature, but it will help.

The temperatures are definitely a bit high. Have you checked if there are background applications that are using alot of processes? Usually at idle, it should be around the high 40's or mid 50s, and web surfing, the low 60s at max.

The G1s's 8600GT is clocked at 700mhz, which makes it GDDR3, as majority of the other 8600GT's are DDR2, which is clocked at 400mhz.

Really? Mine goes up to 75 on max and 61 on idle... But after I underclocked it, it idles at like 55 and goes up to maybe 65.

yea, mine's the same as Theros as I have undervolted it as well. I recommend you undervolt it so that the temps go down and while there is less power it's still just as powerful. Check the G1S resource thread.

My cpu idles at about 55 with a laptop cooler (Zalman NC1000) and goes to mid 70's under load. The GFX idles at about 70 and low 80's at max...

i know its GDDR3 but if you look at the gpu clock its at 513/1026......but nvidia has specified it as 475 whereas the memory is at 702/1404 (same as nvidia site). I havent done any hardware tweaking. also if i undervolt it does that void the warrenty? and in not ...what program should i use for undervolting?

Undervolting doesn't void warranty since its just Software... Like we all said READ THE G1S RESOURCE THREAD BEFORE ASKING MORE QUESTIONS!

No offense, but are you an idiot? Can you read? OVERCLOCKING AND UNDERVOLTING do not VOID your warranty since its ONLY USING SOFTWARE!!! To solve your issue, like I said earlier UNDERVOLT YOUR CPU using the GUIDE IN THE G1S RESOURCE THREAD!!!

okay, this should clear it up. This is because the GPU is GDDR3, which means its more powerful and higher clocked. Thus, your GPU clock is higher as it is the GDDR3 version, not the GDDR2 which is probably what your're seeing on the site. That is why your temp. is higher too, because its at a higher clock. As said before, look at the G1S RESOURCE THREAD and undervolt your computer. You don't have to but it will lower the temperature of your computer. I think I covered all your questions and summed it up in one paragraph.

    you're welcome

Are you quoting me on searching for the answer? As you know I'm not the guy who made the thread, I'm just trying to help this guy who can't seem to find the answers and seems as if he needs someone to sum it up into one paragraph so he can get the answer.

sorry i was just worried about the temps because my friend got a sony vaio (even though its a 1.8 GHz and its integrated videocard) the keyboard is cool to the touch compared to mine

    sorry Theros123
    thanks anyways guys :)
