Anyone kindly help me with info as to where exactly is the second RAM slot location, even though I read that it's supposedly under the keyboard but how to do the daunting task of removing it to upgrade my RAM? I would hate to break something trying without first checking here first with G2sB1 owners who know more than I do. I have looked all over the Internet but got different info for different ASUS models, but none that is close. Seems it can be done and that ASUS also seem to make upgrading RAM such a difficult task. BTW I had no problems upgrading the to 3GB today. I want 4GB so need help to replace the second 1GB stick. :)

I know that this doesn't pertain to your question but do you have xp installed.
If you do could you send me the drivers and/or describe which/how you installed windows xp.
    Thanks!

The second ram slot is located under the keyboard. To upgrade mine I simply calles Asus and they guided me through the whole thing over the phone. They are very helpfull and it will probably be the easiest way to uprade for you because none of the internet guides really helped.

    hi dkmar12,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have XP installed and would like you to consider if you want to do it now because I'm now again using the pre-installed VISTA 32bit and keeping my XP 64-bit installation HITACHI TravelStar hard drive for when they have drivers for XP. I got things to work but I can't get some essential important driver updates until INTEL (if they really do, I can't confirm what I read somewhere) issues XP drivers later this year or next year, or if MS updates (SP3?) could also be another source. Will have to re-format when drivers are available since I had not activated XP while trying to sort out drivers.

    Hi dkmars12,
If you still want to install XP, here's the thread at :
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=185895 - can't say it might work if you're formatting over a pre-installed VISTA OS. Good luck!

Was it difficult? My main worry is about breaking something!
    Cheers!

It's very easy to release the keyboard on the G2S. If you look along the top edge of the keyboard, you can see three "latches". Just take a small screwdriver and push the "latches" toward the screen and they'll release. The keyboard will pop up.

Be careful when you pick up the keyboard, since it is attached by a ribbon cable.

I tried a 32 bit xp install on a new internal hard drive but it says that the installation is corrupted on part 28of 32 of the install. I also am having trouble finding the necessary drivers to go along with the system.

Thanks to anyone willing to help!

    Hi dkmars12,
Sorry must have posted answer to another thread. There are 2 pages of that thread from the link I included in this thread. Maybe you missed page 2? It's still there with relevant links that work. I installed XP 64 bit so it's the 64 bit I used. No floppy drive needed, just power off with XP disk in CD/DVD drive after you change BIOS setting to boot from your CD/DVD drive. Power on and let XP install. Also please read all the info I gave about having XP on this notebook and why I'm back to the pre-installed VISTA Home Premium again. Drivers for XP are mainly the setback now to run XP properly. So when they issue drivers I need, especially for the NVIDA DX 10 capable card, I will then use my XP OS disk (sadly now in storage).

Anyways, the sata driver for 32bit XP is at :

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...zip&agr=&ProductID=2800&DwnldId=14849&strOSs=
You will be required to choose which sata inf to use so, make sure you read which one to click on when installing XP.

Thanks to whoever post the original "How To" for the RAM upgrade. HOLY hell. In my lifetime that had to of been the most inaccessible place for a freakin RAM module. Anyway. After I got a small enough screwdriver, and by the way the module is under the SILVER plate(one screw in the middle), everything was easy. Machine's booting up now.

I've already made quite a few of my friends jealous with this beast. Kudos to anyone else who has one. This has to be the best bang for the buck. Even though it's been out for a bit.
