Hi Guys,
so i am using amongst others an old Asus G50V Gaming Laptop. In this modell my Graphics Card NVIDIA 9700M GT crashed. I decided to buy a NVIDIA 9650M GT after checking if it would fit into the Laptop, cause the 9700 modells are way more expensive.
So, after i built in the NVIDIA 9650M GT and tried to start my ASUS, all i got was an immediate whitescreen. After like a minute it tries to reboot and repeats the process over and over. When i try to get into BIOS or SafeMode ( F2 and F8 worked) i hear the Laptop "doing smth" and it remains on without booting again after 1min. However all i see is still the whitescreen.
My 1st thought was that the 9650M GT isnt compatible w the G50V Laptop, but i cannot imagine that cause they are pretty similar and it perfectly fits into the slot.
My 2nd thought was that i need to install the correct graphic drivers cause my laptop immediately recognizes that they are wrong (being for the 9700) and therefore is unable to show anything at all, even during the booting process. Since i cannot access the HDD through my laptop i would need to connect it via extern cable to another pc, boot from that HDD and deinstall NIVIDIA 9700M GT drivers, then install the 9650M GT drivers, correct?
That being said, im unsure as of right now if every graphic card, even it is only slightly different, really needs their own drivers ?_?
If u guys have any ideas on how to conquer this problem or if i am missing smth, please let me know! <3
Thanks in advance, hoping for a discussion![]()

Did the 9650M come from another ASUS? I seem to remember something funky about the MXM cards in the G series being "reverse MXM" or backwards/upside-down. Also, I can't remember if that system integrates the VBIOS into the system BIOS, or if the card has its own VBIOS. Those are just questions. It's been a long time since I had one of these and I can't seem to find the answers easily.

I do believe it did came from another ASUS notebook. I bought it via ebay from another private seller. He had this card listed being usable for X57V M70V M50V X72V Asus Laptops, so i guess he had it in one of these. He also had it listed as a 9600M GT, but from what ive seen researchwise this card has to be a 9650M GT.
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-9650M-GT-vs-GeForce-9600M-GT It is the 9650M GT shown on the left, that card looks exactly like the one i bought. i have a long green sticker on the bottom instead of the thick white ones shown in the link. The Green sticker says: S870944-01375 -NPCVG2000-B04 and has an BarCode above this "serial number"Last edited: May 6, 2021
