Hey guys, I'm posting this for my little brother:

Currently, I want to pursue screen recording HD video on my laptop, but since software resolutions like FRAPS and such seem to produce low FPS while gaming, I'd like to figure out a way to either screen-capture by somehow increasing the FPS of gameplay or find some hardware solution that allows me to externally screen capture my laptop (via HDMI, DVI, etc) with some non-intensive processing to allow for maximum game performance.

My specifications for my laptop are as follows:

    ASUS G50VT-X1
    Intel Core 2 Due P7450 @ 2.13GHz / core
    4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
    Windows 7 64-bit
    320GB 7200rpm HDD ( I think - Scorpio Black by Western Digital? )
    512MB dedicated NVIDiA GeForce 9800GS

Bought from Best Buy last March for $949.99 USD

You could try other programs such as CamStudio, D3DGear, StreamMyGame, and TAKSI.

    Currently I have tried:

    WeGame, PlayClaw, Fraps

I have the full version of Fraps, and I really would like at least 1280 x 720 recording.. or half of that. I've read somewhere that it's possible to filter the resolution in VirtualDub and make the 640 x 360 (half-size recording in Fraps) 720p.

Anyways, I'm not looking for a software solution really, but thank you for the input.

I also wanted to know that if, if a hardware does indeed exist, it will not bankrupt me (ie cost more than the laptop).

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!
