VERY happy with my X-5 I just got done doing my led and screen shots im gonna go edit all the photos while the rest of the initial benches run and start writing my initial review. Though plenty more benching to be done through out the week.

I bought crysis with the machine and been playing it in high @ 1366x768 thought he benchmark tool seems to need to be on medium to break 30 fps. Played doom 3 on ultra with 4x AA got 60 solid frames per second. All out of the box ofcourse the driver tweaked testing begins tomorrow.

I had the G50V (w/ the 9700M GT) and was extremely happy with it. Even with the 9700M GT, it was still one heck of a gaming notebook... coupling that with a RAID0 setup was simply phenomenal.

It's look like that I'm not very lucky at buying G50Vt. My cousin bought a G50Vt-X3 for me, on 15/5, I'll receive it. But since it arrive at my cousin's hand in late February, it got a lot of problem. Its Blu-ray drive is DOA. And just today, my cousin reported that he had to recover it because windows couldn't start. But he said that the laptop is good, just because we aren't lucky enough. So I still vote that I'm satisfied with G50Vt. I hope that I won't have to change my mind :D .

Unfortunately, no matter what brand/laptop it is, there will be lemons.

I didn't vote since I don't have a X5/X1, but I am very satisfied with my G50VT-A2. About my only (big) complaint is that you can not get more than 2-channel sound over HDMI. That's just silly.

I am very satisfied with my X-5 (Although 3 days after I bought it the OS completely crashed) plays most of the games that I have bought for it at high detail. The only thing that could make it even better is having built in bluetooth. (You can buy a internal component for it or just get a bluetooth USB adapter) I really enjoy it.

Still writing my review, finally found my code for 3dmark06. 1280x720 is putting out around 8500 with turbo extreme mode pushing it to 8831. Tested it on vga and hdmi for the 1280x1024 default 7765 normal 7939

GPU hasn't gone over 79 celsius.
    Still testing cpu temps.

This is all out of the box no updates, will bench more after the initial review and try the gts bios for a shot at 10,000 lol.

Also didn't vote...but I am very satisfied with my A1. My two gripes are keyboard flex (backspace makes a loud popping sound when struck) and glossy screen (I long for the days of matte screens).

I voted and im very satisfied although this g50vtx5 is my first gaming laptop,i have nothing to compare it to,minus my gaming desktop,Its plays all the games i play on my desktop and at impressive settings,I was in the market for a new i7 build, but the price for a i7 platform is sicking,So while waiting on nivida next genn of graphics card for next build i went with a lappy and i may not even go back to the desktop,Basicly gaming on the fly is a big plus,Im looking forward to lappy with the nivida 300 series in the furture.

The only issues I have with my X1 is software related. I have the blue screen some 10 times due to driver issues. The X1 is a great value compared to others in it's class.

I will definitely purchase another Asus and recommend them.

    I don't like it....

I LOVE IT!!!!! and it's quite understandable, because it's an upgrade from a Sony Vaio vgn-fs742/w, 512mbRam, shared vid card and 1.8 centrino. Man... an upgrade to this is unbelievable.

This is an old thread I realize, but wonder if anyone else can comment. How has your G50 held up over time? A LOT of refurbs out there and wondering why so many are coming back.

I haven't had a single problem with my G50Vt as of yet. I've owned 7 laptops (Toshiba x2, Dell, Acer, ASUS x2) over the years and so far this has simply been the best notebook I've owned.

After being on TigerDirects.com and reading all the 64 reviews that have been left at the moment on the Refurb ones I confident in saying that there is no need to worry if you are thinking about getting this laptop.

In fact I just ordered mine about 2 hours ago off ebay for $699! :D :D

That notebook performs really well. I used it for work and for playing my media files. It is definitely one of the best notebook I bought.

    Highly recommended

I also bought this lappy off Tigerdirect, although the Canadian branch.
There are now over 100 reviews on the website about this product alone!
I also received a 9 cell battery! Even when the specs showed it had a 6 cell.

I haven't tried Windows 7 with it and no intentions to try until after revised version was released.... Msoft always has crappy details left (bug) and will clean them later. I don't like to do the honor. :D

Wow really? I have a 6-cell and was dying to get a 9-cell. Problem is that the 9-cell stock has seemed to dry up and the few places that have it are charging an arm and leg.

The Asus store has the 6-cell in stock for $110. If you do a google search for the item number (70-NED1B1200Z), you should be able to find a few more stores with the 6-cell. Heck I might be willing to trade if you really want to get a 6-cell.

VERY happy with my X5. I´m from Argentina and i buy mine in best buy. Now runing W7 on it and it´s great (Mysteriously, i´ve got no problems with the drivers and touch pad buttons, even the webcam works perfect). My brother in law has got the X1 and he´s also happy, both are great notebooks
