Those of you who have purchased this beast what have your experiences been? benchmarks? Reliability? Heat? And what if any problems have you had with the model?

The only problem that I had was when the Vista decided to crash after only having it for 3 days. But other than that it has been pretty good to me.

    Pros.
    1.Powerful GPU
    2.Cheap (for a gaming laptop)
    3.reliable and does not overheat
4.Can play most games very well
    Cons.
    1.Low screen resolution
2.Big and heavy (compared to laptops the same size)
3.very stupid looking lightning bolt pattern. ( to me the biggest con)
    4.BB in store staff (clueless)
But overall a very good budget gaming laptop that's well worth the money if you can get over it's "unique" look.
Some components can also be upgrade( CPU,RAM,HDD) if you think it needs a boost in performance

I agree on everything IKAS mentioned. In addition the the BB staff mentioned, they can not provide any technical help once you've purchased the notebook. Resellers like GenTechPC on the other hand, will always be there to answer your questions and even help you if you need to schedule an RMA with Asus.

If you want my view im getting the thing. As for the screen res its sorta standard for that size and sadly they make larger TV's with that res. The WSUXGA resolution would be a nice option but its not like this is a built to order unit and we are looking at cheap here.

The lightening bolt pattern didnt look as bad in person today but i still want to skin the thing. The flashing side lights (can be changed/turned off) dont stick out in a very bright room but in a darker more normal room you will see it.

If WEI counts which everyone agree's it doesn't I checked the display model and All 5.9's except the processor with a 5.1. Either way the 9800 GS PWNS anything ive ever owned so im happy to pick this one up soon.

Yeah they sound like a great reseller however they add alot of things i do NOT need at a price I;m unwilling to pay

    1. I do not want a high res screen as this just reduces the viability life of the GPU when gaming and lower res looks fine to me
    2. I don't need a 2.6 or etc ghz CPU
    3. I don't need the accidental damage warranty ASUS provides (Iv'e never physically damaged a laptop in 9 years)

All of these things and more they force you to take jacks the price up to a point i don't see paying. If i could order a comparable spec at a comparable price I'd love to try one of those places as i hear there fantastic.
