First of all, I would like to apologize if this topic was already discussed, I spent about an hour and a half searching the forum and I can't find this anywhere, so I'll just have to ask it. This is my first post too.

Well, I have bought the G50Vt-X5, and after it boots, I can't see the desktop and the desktop icons, because there is a gray screen that says: "Asus - Rock Solid - Heart touching". If I start the system only with the basic devices and services only (selecting the "diagnostic startup" in the msconfig) then this does not happen.
I guess that some program is doing this but I can't find which. If I could, then I could avoid it from loading at startup.

Also, when I change some of the settings for the Taskbar they are changed once after I restart.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Run msconfig and run selective startup, I'm not sure which application it is, but you can figure it out by process of elimination... maybe someone else knows the exact name of the program but I don't :(

That screen is the wallpaper. Indeed some application is causing the problem. I would suggest running msconfig and disabling all autostarting applications. Then see if your computer gets to the desktop properly. If yes, then reenable things one at a time, in order to isolate the culprit.

If no, then maybe the problem is with a driver. Make sure you don't have anything plugged into the computer when you start it, that helps to eliminate another possible source of problems -- namely the peripherals.

This happens when you are selecting power saving option.

Make sure you select Maxiumum Performance.

Yeah, choosing the Maximum Performance option solved it. Thank you guys!

By the way, is it advisable to have it always running at max performance? I am asking out if ignorance here, sorry for the noobie question.

If you're on AC power, keep it on maximum performance :)

On battery, you might want to do otherwise no? :)

I believe there is an option in the Power4Gear software that allows you to select whether you want a "power saving desktop" or not.
