    Hey there;

    Well, I once decided to open up my machine, and look at the CPU and the GPU. When I did, it seems I messed up a few of the blue thermal pads on the heatsink.

    I thought: "No problem-o! I'll just put Arctic Silver 5 in it and we're good to go!"

    Alas, it seems that the actual CPU / GPU / VRAM don't make contact with the heatsink, so temperatures began to rise.

    Then I read about the copper mod, and putting a piece of copper between the components and the heatsink to solve the heat issues. So I got a copper sheet of about 0.65mm thick, which is something akin of 0.025".

    So I have the CPU / GPU / VRAM, Arctic Silver 5, copper shim - which I lapped -, arctic silver 5 then the heatsink. It did help a little...

    ... by a little I mean that the while running RTHDRIBL the CPU - a P9400 - goes to 72C and the GPU goes to 102C... :S

    Any ideas on what I could do? I'm thinking of getting a sheet of copper which is a little bit thicker - 1mm maybe -, or... buying some thermal pads from RadioShack - the only place I've found them.

    Any other ideas? I'm afraid this will shorten my laptop's lifetime :S

    Thanks in advance!
