That doesn't explain much. There are two--well, three--G51s out now.
The G51vx can only use Core 2 Duo, and one reseller variant can use a C2Q.
The G51j and G51jx are the ones that could use Core ix CPUs. -
oh ok thanks, i have an asus G51vx so im wondering what is the best processor out there i can get for it?

which G51VX? if you have a G51VX-A1 the best CPU you can get should be a QX9300. if you have any other G51VX (X1A/X2A/RX05) the best CPU you can get would be a T9900.

I'm not 100% that you can upgrade a g51jx-X3 to an i7; no one has tried it and posted about it (to my knowledge), and given the strange problem of the g51vx upgrade path (depending on model you could go C2Q or only C2D...).
Thankfully, no matter what version of the g51 you get, it's an EAAASY upgrade compared to most computers.
