Open DirectConsole2 and select either Power Saving Mode or Advance Mode > Lights Off.

I'm not sure you can turn them off manually on the G51.

    From Sunny's G51VX-RX05 Review:
If you want to mess with hardware I posted How to disconnect and disable G50V or G50Vt lights, it should be the same process for the G51.

Edit: This is the post I was looking for. Maybe Forge can confirm if this is still the case: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5093365#post5093365

Well, I can confirm that they just stay on with no blinking. Other than that, I don't know what else to confirm.

Can you confirm if DirectConsole lets you turn the lights off like the G1/G50? That's what I meant :)

The Asus G51VX-RX05 from Best Buy atleast doesnt come with DirectConsole, we have a useless thing called Power4Gear Hybrid...

Your guide is awesome ALLurGroceries, I have it bookmarked here, and when I create enough courage im gonna do it...

Oh, maybe DirectConsole got thrown out with the OLED then.

If you use my guide just be careful that you don't snap the bezel or ruin the sticky adhesive on the screw covers. It's pretty straightforward otherwise, but I'd say don't do it unless you are relaxed and comfortable with hardware.

So I take it there is no "setting" or "program" with the G51 that allows you to tunr off the lights

The G71 has DirectConsole and it allows you to completely turn off the two lights on the sides of the front and the lights on the sides of the lid. You cannot turn off the lights in the RoG logo and the stripe below it on the lid however. Also you can change the color of the two lights on the front of the laptop!111

Nope. Why don't you just turn off the laptop or put some type of cloth on the lid?

Its not killing me, Just wanted to know if there was a way to turn them off. I would love to bring this beast into meetings but feel the lights are just a bit to much for that.

There was a program called DirectConsole for the earlier G series, you might be able to download DirectConsole for the G50 and try it on the G51 but I can't say if it would work. The OLED (above the keyboard) is no longer a feature on the G51 and DirectConsole was also used to control that on the G1/G50, so I'm guessing they don't bundle it anymore. Therefore there would be no software to control the lights.

It's like when someone is giving a speech; that person thinks that everyone is judging him but in reality, no one cares. They are just a couple of lights after all.

    @ALLurGroceries
Yes, great guide! I will have to try this down the road.

Since you've opened this up, do you think it's possible to slip some art work inside the back cover, like where the blue lightning or white mecha design is. sry ..bit off topic.

I will definitely do this and I guess it won't void your warranty if you can put it back too. :)

I'm not sure exactly where you want to put the art, the 'membrane' is just a thin piece of electroluminescent film that glows behind the semi-transparent rubber RoG shield. You could probably replace the rubber shield if you are good with that sort of thing.

If you mean where the lights are on the side, there is no room really, I mean you could try to stuff some thin sheet of plastic in there but I'm not sure it'd really turn out how you want. There is a lot of stuff in the way.

Edit: Oh wait, the mecha design, that is part of the exterior finish, I think?

Yes, as in putting some art around the mecca design, in the white area.

Small note, the pictures of the G60vx don't have side lights. I wonder if this is so.
