I was just wondering if it would be possible to swap out the 260m in the G51J with a 5870 from a G73JH. Is the MXM interface the same on both cards? And wondering if the latest BIOS would even support it.

    Any thoughts?

This is relevant to my interests! :D

Sadly, I believe the answer is simply....... no. :p

It would be a nice upgrade. Hell, an HD5850 GDDR5 would be fine!

Yea I'm thinking no as well, simply because it might not fit, however i am not sure on the size of all the 5xxx series cards.

I am betting the BIOS wouldn't support it anyway, but i have no idea.

Its a great machine have had no problems with it at all after i updated the BIOS, runs perfect now. I have been able to play like Borderlands, Batman:AA and COD:MW2 at full detail and full rez all at an average of 45-55 fps, its really great.

Even if it will perfectly fit, it will never work.
The problem is that on the notebooks the VBios is a part of the main system bios.
So the only way one could make it work is to have necessary tools in order to replace the 260m vBios with the 5870 Vbios in the system bios file and then flash it to the notebook and pray that notebook does not end dead.
