I just got my G51VX refurbed, sealed in an ASUS box with ASUS tape, and it was partially DOA. It worked as long as I didn't put the battery in. With the battery in it would only stay up about 5-10 mins. Without the battery, it would work fine. When it cut out with the battery it was like a breaker was tripping in the power adapter because the only way to reset it was to pull it from the outlet and plug it back in. I continued my troubleshooting and found it was not the battery, but the adapter itself, the battery would charge fine using another adapter, but this spare adapter is only rated for 2.5A and the genuine one is 6.3A. I did not try to run the notebook completely off the weaker adapter, I'm just charging the battery. Does anyone know how much current the G51 draws under full load? ASUS wants me to RMA the ENTIRE notebook to the tune of 4-6 weeks turnaround for a freakin' AC adapter. I'd rather grab one used from ebay or whatever instead of that, but I'd like to know if I need to stick to that 6.3A or if a 4-5A or 100W adapter would work reliably and not start smoking on me. Thanks!
