    Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to ask a question about the RX05 (Best Buy) and the Q9300. I believe it can be upgraded to the Q9300, but I could be wrong

If so I would love if someone could confirm this :D

Also, I was wondering if the Max Power Consumption from the Q9300 (which is 95w) would be too much for the RX05. Or will running intense games like GTA 4 and Crysis will cause my notebook to overheat . I plan on putting arctic silver 5 asap, but I was wondering if anyone would think this would make a difference.

I also would love anyone's opinions and alternate processor upgrading methods on this matter.

    Thanx!

I dont think anyone has done it. The AC adapter that comes with it is rated at 150 watt output (19.5Vx7.7A). I can imagine the 260 takes a good amount of power too.... but 95 watts doesnt sound like too much for a fast processor.

Ha! Well I'm going to do it just to test it out.

Ive been looking up the specs on the chipset the laptop has and it supports Quad Core and Quad Core Extreme. The power cord that comes with it also can take the power consumption without a problem.

I will post my results asap!

    Thanx!

tgamer007 if you do not want to destroy your laptop, i suggest you DO NOT do this. the q9300 is A DESKTOP CPU. it was never meant to be in a laptop hence its 95w power draw. what you should look for is a QX9300 which is the mobile version of the cpu which uses 45w. DO NOT GET THE Q9300! I REPEAT DO NOT GET THE Q9300! IT IS FOR DESKTOPS ONLY!

I keep looking at the X9100 I have (dual core ES) and debating whether I should pop it in ;) Just not sure if the cooling solution will support it.
