    Hi

    Does anyone know a company that customizes Asus VX2? I need it with the following Specs:

    * Intel® Core™2 Duo T7700 2.4GHz w/4MB L2 On-die cache - 800MHz FSB

    (Or preferably Intel Core 2 Duo EXTREME X6800 2.93GHz w/ 4MB L2 Cache - 1066MHz FSB)

    *

    Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

    * 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8600GT DX10

    (Or preferably 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8700GT DX10 / 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 7950GTX w/GDDR3)

    * 4,096MB (2 SODIMMS) DDR2 667MHz Dual Channel Memory

    (Or preferably 4,096MB DDR2 800 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory)

    * 1GB Intel® Robson Turbo Memory

    * "Black" Lamborghini Exposed Carbon Fiber Exterior Finish

    * Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti 8X Light Scribe DVDRW Drive w/ Software

    * 200GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)

    * Internal Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR

    * Built-in Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11 a/g/n

    I know for example that http://www.xoticpc.com offers these specs (though not the ones I prefer and I am not even sure if my preferred specs are available on VX2 – I would appreciate any info on this as well -) but shipping to Canada will incur duties, which is just stupid. I am wondering if there is any place which does such customization in Canada.

    Thank You and Regards
    Siavash Babaei

    You won't fine a X6800 CPU, 8700GT or the 7950GTX on a 15" notebook because of heat issues. Those are only offered in 17" notebooks.

    what do you want to book for? like the uses of the lappy?
    lambobooks are over priced imo..and the xtreme cpus are overpriced too..they're like 1k each for the upgrade to them..
    and emporium is right..the higher grade gpus can only be found in 17" books, but i've been hearing about people saying that the newer (9series?) notebook cards will be smaller..and have possibly cooler(?) :S but then you'll have to wait probabbly another year or 2, and i really doubt Asus would wanna put them in the lambobook

    I spend an average of 8 hours behind my PC (Desktop or Laptop) and I do not have much room either. So I care both about the looks of what I get since I spend half of my functional life looking at it and Lambo is the best looking Laptop I have come across, and I care about the size since I have not got much room to spare as I mentioned. Also, it has good specs (not the best but good enough to run the games for the coming 2 years on a 800*600 res, and do mid-level MATLAB/C++/SAS programming smoothly). I also like to be able to carry it to lab if need be and that you cannot do with a 17''/19''/20'' Laptop (though I am contemplating on XOTICPC SAGER NP9261 Ultimate Custom Laptop which costs around $4300 excluding any Shipping, Duty, Tax Costs which is about $1,000 more than the Lambo - Find its Specs at the End - ; or Dell XPS 1730 AT $5,600). Anyway, I will wait for another year if I have to - My Fujitsue-Siemens AMILO M1425 is still fine for daytoday -

    Only)
    5. 2 * 200GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)

    Duo/SD/Mini-SD/MMC/RS)

    BTW, Has anyone checked the performance difference for Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3-12 degrees less cpu temp)?

    Also, I fear that if I use a 64-Bit OS, the usual programs and games won't run on the system since most of them are 32-Bit designed.

    No, compatibility issues are not really big (and mostly solved by choose XP SP2 Compatibility mode + run as administrator). 64bits can run 32bits applications fine :)

    VOODOO ENVY M:152 for example offers Intel X7800 Extreme on a 15.4'' Laptop. I also have heard that ASUS is trying to solve the heat issue for NVIDIA 8700GT. Unfortunately, for some reason, I just do not like HP/VOODOO and DELL/ALIENWARE.

    Don't say "unfortunately"..I'm with you all the way on that one. Just add Acer, and gateway to it too :p
