OK, I got my VX2 yesterday, but I've been too busy installing programs and getting used to Vista to post much in the way of experiences with it. Suffice it to say, this is one uber-lappy!![]()
I love the carbon-fiber finish and must thank Justin and a former GFeek
for talking me into this choice. This laptop rocks. Also, the combination of Core 2 Duo T7400 running at 2.16Ghz and the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 add up to a fantastic Windows Experience Index of 4.7, which is plenty of power to make Vista open windows in realtime, with no perceptible lag.

The craftmanship is top-notch. Better than any Sony I've ever owned. The leather palm rests and yellow cross-stitching add up to a luxurious feel, which oozes the Lamborghini brand.
But the best part is the sound projection built into the speakers. It makes any Windows alerts sound like they're coming from somewhere else in the room, an uncanny effect to say the least. And let's not forget the "vroom, vroom" sound the VX2 makes on start-up.![]()
I recommend this laptop to any power junkie looking to replace their high-quality W3J. There just is no notebook on the market today that comes close to offering this kind of build quality, screen brightness and color-fidelity, plus unbridled power. It's a hands-down winner.![]()
Unboxing pictures to come later today, after I get some sleep.![]()

OK, I couldn't resist. One unboxing picture.

Very sweet notebook! I am thinking about buying one myself very soon. Post some more pics if you can! I heard the carrying case is pretty slick too - any photos of that?
-
Your wish is my command!
-
*drools* That is probably the best looking notebook right now
-
WOWWW WOWW!!! Arghhhhhhhhhh should i get this???
and stop getting my sager 5760!! Decisions decisions..
Please post more pics and a more detailed reviewsThis is so awesome
-
Here's a better-quality pic of the bag and its accessories.
-
Good photography is tough as you can tell from these lousy pics, but I was trying to convey the screen quality here. Call it a mood shot.
-
wow screen looks great.. (better be for a $3k laptop!)
-
Best screen I've ever seen and I've owned like a dozen laptops now.
-
Wow, that does look like a good shot... even from that picture. I'm quite impressed already... I wish I could see it in person.
-
Very nice!
I love the leather bag! -
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
*salivate* *drool* *ogle*
Man.. I wish I had waited just a bit more b4 getting a nb.. This or it's refresh is my next... -
The leather bag is well made and features industrial-grade metal clasps, which look far stronger than my Swiss Army bag. And since those have been known to open accidentally, I'm thinking of switching to this one, but it might be too small for all the gear we need to carry.
I'll try to take some shots of the inside, so you can see the organization. I like the separate cable accessories bag, it has the ASUS logo all over it in a design that makes me think "Gucci." -
It is awesome man..... too sexy. I like this color to Yellow. It is too crafted.
The bags are also nice. Post more pics. -
I like the black one better too.
The case is awesome I want one like it. -
post more pictures please!
It is really nice to look at -
Yeah more pics would be nice. Nice laptop you got there.
-
can you please run the program everest and tell us the lcd model used on this machine?
-
Very nice pictures!
-
http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-lamborghini-vx2/ Some really good pictures here!
I will most likely upgrade from my w3j within a year to another Asus system, but I'm waiting till Direct X 10 cards and quad core processors are widely available across the Asus product line. Although I would love to buy one of these based on aesthetics alone. -
God, I'd love to have the VX2 if I could afford it
. Awesome pictures and hopefully you can write a full review for us envious members?
.
-
Great pictures and thanks for taking one of the case! It looks like an all around beautiful package!
Question: How's the size for mobility? I'm a student and will be using this for both class and dorm use. I don't mind it bein a little on the big size as it will probably be used most in my dorm, but is it mobile enough to haul around a few times a day? I would imagine so, but I just wanted to hear your opinion. -
-
15.4", 5.9lbs with the travelers bay, 6.4 with Optical Drive if I recall.
As for portability, it really varies from person to person, and what they carry with them. -
Will there be a refresh of VX2 once SR launch? If, y can't u wait? It's only a month away
-
WOW, i want one now, too bad i recently got one with out me chosing it
. But i do want a Dx10 Lambo version(if one comes out)
-
*droooooooooooooool*. That is a HAWT and SMEXY laptop. I wish i could have gotten that instead of my A8js, but it's too expensive. I'll go for the VX4 instead.
-
Evokes me of my Lamborghini in Need For Speed Carbon. I also wanted to get a VX2 but it looks to flashy with the Automobile Lamborghini logo on the lid ( scared of attracting attention - and potential theft.)
-
Sorry folks, but it's taken me far longer than normal to get this lappy set up due to the hurdles that Vista presents. I had to update a number of programs and also do tons of research here to find the best registry editors (RegistryFix) while struggling with the idiocy of the Diskeeper folks.
Anyway, here's another pic. I thought you would love to see the elaborateness of the accessories, in particular the cooling platform ASUS includes with this potentially sterilizing notebook.
-
The best part for those of you who have struggled with messy stickers in the past, the VX2 stickers are on an acetate overlay, so *no* nasty sticks to remove!

That's a Chi Mei screen (they say it might be also the same as used in the G1) -
The carbon-fiber lid makes it top-heavy too, but the screen does have *zero* flex. It's built like a tank and weighs like one. Hopefully, future versions will feature more magnesium alloy and titanium to get the weight down. -
One more pic, head-on:
-
sooo pretty.
That's it, your gettint rep just for having (and taking pictures of course) that laptop. -
-
what a gorgeous laptop
-
-
back in my day! *old man voice* -
sweeeeeeeeet!
-
So, tell us, for all us ignorant mortals, what are the specs on this thing? Does it go like a real lamborghini?

As for potential availability of DX10 notebooks ... I have no clue. You'd have to ask an Asus reseller, who'd have much more knowledge about how Asus distributes their products after a major hardware release. -
