After about a month of high noise, the CPU fan in my ASUS M50VM-A1 has completely stopped working.

The CPU fan on their site doesn't have my laptop model in the compatible models list: CPU Fan

The list does include the M70VM though, which seems quite similar to my model. Will this fan fit in my laptop?

So far I haven't found anywhere that sells a fan for my specific model, other than 2-3 sites that rank well in Google that are aparently Chinese scams. If anyone knows where I can get a replacement please let me know. Thanks!

Can you list the numbers of the fan? Sub model if they give it because most of the time the fan number is just for the fan and theyres 3 or 4 different enclosures. On the one in that photo u can see something like -7H95 which is the actual housing its in.

There shoud be a model number on your fan (mine says: KFB0505HHA). Search for it on amazon or ebay. You will find plenty...

Here's what I see when I open it up. Am I going to have to actually take it out and look on the other side for a different number?

You can contact the Asus estore and ask for the fan replacement for the M50VM. They'll know which one you need and should be able to sell it to you.

The estore doesn't have the part I need. They redirected me to the RMA department so I can send it in and have it repaired. My laptop is no longer under warranty.

Yeah. Asus support was no help at all when I was looking for a fan for mine. You are gonna have to take the fan out of the heatsink. take out the 6 screws that hold the heat pipe to the processor(if it is like my G50VT)...pop it up and you will be able to access the fan screws. also the part number for the fan is on that side. from there you should be able to google it and find what you need.

    The lucky number is: KDB05105HB-7F36

Now to wade through the Google results and try to find a credible seller. Thanks for all the help so far!

I'm surprised they didn't offer to order the part from Taiwan for you since that's what they did before. Have you tried to ask if they could do that?

I got my laptop back today. Everything is working nicely! I was supposed to get a call from a service rep with an estimate before they did any work. Never got that call. There's no bill included, so as far as I can tell the repair + shipping were free despite not being under warranty. In total it took 8 business days from the time I shipped it.
