I'm looking for some advice to fixing my laptop. I was working on it a few hours ago and closed the screen like I always do when I was done. Vista always hibernates. I noticed though that it didn't seem like it was hibernating, I lifted the screen and noticed it was stuck at the Asus logo. I pressed and held the power button to force a power down. A shot while ago I tried to power it up and it just hangs on the Asus logo, I can't seem to access the BIOS or anything. Is my laptop fried? Has anyone else experienced this? :(

Give the Asus technical support line a call :)

We could all speculate, but this seems a bit more serious than forum speculation can resolve if you have indeed tried to access the bios/safe mode etc.. and it has not worked.

    call em'

Well, I did two things. I bathed my 16 month old daughter and put her to bed, which I doubt had anything to do with resolving the issue.

Second, I took a paper clip and pressed the Emergency shutdown switch on the underside of the laptop (even though it was off), then powered it back on. This time I was able to press the Esc key to clear the Asus logo and watch it boot. Vista booted and detected it was not shutdown properly and I went through that long repair process. I now appear to be back in business. So either letting it sit for a long time helped, or pressing that emergency shutdown button helped (which I would expect to work if it was actually running with the OS hung).

Anyway, just thought I would post my bizarre findings.

    :D
