    Hi eveyone,

I just installed Windows 7 Beta (Build 7000) on the M50vm-b1 and I thought I could share me experience with the B1 (future) users. The installation was easy without problems. Most of the peripherals are recognized such as webcam, wireless, ethernet, bluetooth, keyboard, mouse and sound.

However the extra keybord fonctions are not working. Namely the control of the lcd brightness, volume control, etc. This is as far as I'm testing and I haven't yet tried to install the vista drivers from the asus cd. If I have more informations I will let you know and I hope those who have installed windows 7 on their computer will share what they have found. Happy New Year!

I installed Windows 7 last night too, I've been told Daemon tools doesnt work but I have yet to install it. Runs real smooth, I like a lot of the new features. Hopefully I dont run into any bumps along the way. I'm downloading video update drivers right now and I downloaded a bunch of drivers from the Asus support page. Just have to install one more thing then restart this puppy.

Pretty happy with it thus far.

glad to see im not the only one in here doing this. I got bored and decided to run it on my little beast. I had it on the desktop a couple days now.

its super fast but no aero yet. I now loaded it up. :D

i got some of the extra drivers no hitches thus far.

185.20 drivers is being download ATM.

i just did a performance scan and it says it is 1.9 lol... i think its because some drivers are missing... oh well drivers cd for it :D

I was just wondering, I have the same laptop, and I want to install windows 7 on my drive D and I have many files on my drive D and free space for Windows 7 also. But I was wondering If I boot my laptop from the installation DVD and install windows in my D drive :

    1) My data on drive D will be erased or they will remain in my D drive ?

    2) I have Vista 32-bit on my C drive, Can I install Windows 7 64-bit on my drive D or it must be 32-bit also ?

    thnx :)

well, I dont need answers to my questions anymore :) cuz I installed the Windows 7 64-Bit edition and its just perfect !
The main reason I installed Windows 7 64-Bit is because I just got GTA 4 and its kinda slow on Vista and I heard its better on Windows 7, especially the 64-Bit edition.
But since I installed Windows 7, my optical drive doesn't work properly. I put the GTA DVD in the Rom and it loads for 2-3 minutes, after that It says the device is not connected and can't continue. Then if I go to my computer, I can't see the DVD drive icon and when I want to eject the DVD, the eject bottom doesn't work and the DVD keeps spinning at full speed, so I have to restart the computer, go into Vista and turn it off from there. I tried other games/softwares too and got the same problem as well. I went to device manager and uninstalled the driver for the optical drive, then I searched for hardware changes and windows found the DVD-Rom and installed the driver by it's own. But again I got the same problem ! I need help please ! :(
