    Hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of buying my first laptop, and have been looking around for one that will suit me best. I stumbled across the ASUS M50VN-AS013G, it seems pretty good specs wise, but it does cost a fair bit, $2560NZD ($1400USD I'm from New Zealand).

    Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor Montevina T9400 2.53Ghz, 1066MHz, 6MB On-Die L2 Cache
    Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset +ICH9M
    2x 2GB DDRII 800 MHz SDRAM
2 x SODIMM socket for expansion up to 4GB SDRAM
    15.4" WXGA+ Color-Shine (Glare-type)
    nVidia® G9650M GT, External 1GB VRAM
    2.5" 9.5mm SATA 320GB, 5400rpm
5.25” DVD Super Multi Double Layer

I was wondering if it was a good price for this sort of laptop, it will be replacing my current desktop which is a P4 3.0GHZ 1GB RAM etc, so I'm after something that will last 4+ years. I'm not a heavy gamer, but it would be nice to have the option to play new games such as COD4/5, Left 4 Dead etc, without to much problem. I'm guessing that the 9650M GT will be sufficient for these current games, but what about in a year or 2.

I filled out an FAQ here forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=324270 if that helps.

It does seem slightly expensive to me, But I'm not 100%.. Over here in Australia that model goes for around $1250 USD, So see if you can push them for a few more dollars off that!....

As for the 9650GT it's a good card but it's not designed for games, it's only DDR2 ram and is only a midrange card today, so you can kind of guess how average in 2 years time.

Thanks for the reply, what other laptop would you recommend in the $2000 - $2500NZD price range. Yea I realised that the 9650M GT was only DDR2, but read that is was better than the 8600M GT GDDR3, so I assumed that it was alright, I'm not entirely fussed on the whole graphics card thing, I know that it will get outdated fairly quickly, but just wanting to future-proof a bit :)

    Cheers
