Hi there, i'm a new owner of a ASUS M50VN and currently I'm stuck with Vista Home Premium... At first it was fine, with vista moving well with the system, but i don't know bout other people, but i'm encountering a CRAPload of irritating problems with vista and i just wish i can go back to XP Pro >.<

For starters, if i use the pc for a while, the wireless internet and networking just doesn't work though the computer says its connected, in which i have to either manually turn off the adapter and turn it back on or restart the computer to get it working again.

It gets really irritating as its erratic ranging from seconds to after connecting to hours. Secondly, i have utorrent installed on the machine. After a while of torrenting, uTorrent just hangs and i CAN'T kill it from task manager, leaving me to restart the computer AGAIN just to get the torrents moving.

Thirdly, now i'm playing videos with Media Player Classic, specifically MKV files at the moment. They play fine first, but once i try to play another video file, the sound just doesn't work anymore >.< which again, leaves me to restart the computer, AGAIN.

Now, i've actually tried to install Windows XP Pro SP3 using a custom XP install disc, but before it can even hit the drive select menu, it goes into a blue screen and dies... Then of course installing from vista doesn't work as well.

Do you think its possible for me to get vista on this system? how about things like ezboot, all the buttons up top as well as maybe even my SPDIF audio and the Dolby Home Theater audio if i reformat it into XP? Can i still use those? I've really fallen in love with the Dolby Home Theater in the laptop and i don't think i can bear to part with it >_>

For now i'm thinking of dual booting it with linux in hopes it can solve my problems, but it'd be nice if i can get XP in >_> Any ideas....? anyone?

XP will work on the M50Vn. See if switching to compatibility mode for your SATA setting in the BIOS helps solve the blue screen issue.
