I just received the ASUS M50mV-A1. It is a nice computer. I have one problem with it. IF I can't resolve the issue over the weekend, I may send it back. I have tried different headphones, but no matter which I try there is a horrible high frequency noise coming through. It even comes through when I mute. If I turn the sound up loud enough, I can drown it out, but it is still there in the background. I have two headphone plugs, but the high pitch frequency comes through either jack. It is really loud. What could be causing this and has anyone else had this problem? Any quick fixes? Thanks!

    Is your mic on?

It seems like interference which might be fixed with a filter, but it could signify a problem with the laptop. They make little things you can hook the line through that might fix the sound up.

Yes, I had a usb mouse plugged in...I unplugged it and the noise went away. Is there a way to use usb and eliminate the high frequency noise? Thanks

Don't think so. You can try asking in the owner's lounge though.

What I would do is simply stick your mouse usb into another port. For example, for my Asus M50, the annoying high pitch noise only occurs if the usb of the mouse is located in one of the two usb slots next to the audio jack. However, if you move the mouse to the usb slot that is higher up on the right side, right to the right speaker, the high pitch dissapears. You can still use still use the two usb slots available near the audio jack but not the mouse or any usb device that makes the sound.
