I have ASUS M51TR laptop which boots up fine and works well, you can bootup Ubuntu, get to desktop and surf internet for a while but then the display shuts off. Laptop is still powered on but apparently theres no one home. After this crash you cannot start the laptop for a while which points to heat issues or more likely issues with soldering somewhere on the motherboard. I also noticed that the laptop drains battery by itself so there is short somewhere. Dust is not the issue and fan is running OK.

Any tips? Should I attempt classic heat gun fix? I haven't used this laptop actively for about half an year so in that sense it does not matter, this does not even hard disk anymore....
