I just bought the M70Vm-X1 intending to downgrade to XP Pro. After searching all day for drivers it looks like I may be stuck with vista. Has anyone sucessfully downgraded this machine yet? One potential problem is I have not been able to locate an XP driver for the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS Graphics Card.

Sorry if this has already been covered in this forum, I searched all day and have found nothing about downgrading this ASUS model.

    Regards

Well it seems like you haven't been looking in the right place. :p Joking, it's not always easy for newcomers to find their way efficiently around the forums.

    Here is a guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=272680

Scroll down to the XP section.

Additionally, the nVidia card should pose no problems. Get the drivers for it from laptopvideo2go. Make sure to use the modded inf (read theFAQ's over there, they will tell you all about it).

I don't see any reason for which it shouldn't work, I guess only the CPU, HDD, and screen res are different, and maybe bluetooth is missing. CPU, HDD, screen make no difference to drivers -- and bluetooth simply doesn't have to be installed, if you don't have the device. Besides that, the mainboard should be the same so the drivers should work.
