    Hi,

I have some ASUS N10 questions.

    I just bought the

    Asus N10JC-HV006

    http://austin.net.au/ProductList/ProductDetail/tabid/104/ProductCode/NBASN10JC-HV006/Default.aspx

    10.2" WSVGA
    Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
    1G 667 RAM
    160G HDD
    9300M GS
    Bluetooth
    1.3MP webcam
    XP HOME
    2 Years Warranty

I yanked out the 1GB or RAM and stuck in a 2GB stick straight away.

    I want to get a bigger HD - either 400GB or 500GB.

I have a pathological aversion to XP Home - years of working in IT has forced me to hate any version of MS OS that has cut down networking or domain membership ability etc.

In doing so I would like to move to either XP Pro or Vista Ultimate 32bit.

I would prefer to go Vista Ultimate 32bit as I prefer it to XP Pro now.

    1. When I reinstall the OS are there any tips or recommendations?

    2. Is it going to be significantly slower to go with Vista over XP Pro?

    3. When I go to the Asus downloads page for the N10Jc it has Vista 64bit drivers!!!??? I thought the Atom was only 32bit?? Is it??

    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

    4. Is there an N10 or Nxx owners lounge to ask questions in?

    5. When I install a new OS is there anything special I need to do (ie separate partition or something) for the Express Gate software to work in or is 100% on a ROM chip so I don't have to worry about it?

I will probably have more questions but that's all I can think of for now...

    Thanks!

    :)

    1. You can reinstall the OS with your restore disk or from your hidden recovery partition.

    2. Not particularly. Vista has been MUCH better after SP1 was released. You will also see better battery life on Vista since it has better power management. However, gaming wise, XP still has a slight edge.

    3. Some 64 bit drivers works on the 32bits. I would recommend using just the drivers on your drivers disk

    4. As x3baddad said, www.n10user.com :)

    5. You'll need to install expressgate in your OS. It's also in your driver disk ;)
