    Hi,
I'm looking for a laptop and have been searching through all the reviews. The N51 series seems to get a good rap. But I'm unsure on whiich of the series I should get. I've narrowed it down to N51Vg-SX039 or the N51Vf=SX032? The N51Vf is more expensive than the N51Vg. But what's the main difference between the two, is the N51Vf newer, is that why it's more expensive, or is it the blue ray drive?

I doubt you'll even be able to find the N51VG any more. As you say, it's outdated. The real difference you should be looking at is the X1, X2, A1, A2, etc. ending after the N51VF part.

For instance, at newegg you can get the X1 model which comes with a 2.4Ghz processor and no BluRay drive for $1049. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220521

Or, you can go somewhere like XOTIC and customize the A1 model (the main difference being that it comes with a faster cpu, and you can upgrade to a BD drive among other things) starting from $1250. http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-n51vfa1-p-2568.html?wconfigure=yes

Finally, there's the A2 model which comes with BluRay standard for about $1385. http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?ed...ase-_-Systems&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=43971712

As a general rule in all Asus series, the X models are more budget-oriented, while the A models come with faster processors and often better screens (though not in this case) and bluray drives. Higher numbers usually mean a more recent version. (For instance the G50VT-X6 is newer than the G50VT-X5).

Good luck with your purchase. I've been very happy with my Asus laptop thus far.

    Legend...! Thanks for the info.

I think I'll go for the N51Vf-A1 or A2, not sure if I'll need the BDrive though. It hasn't really taken off that fast, is the quality even worth it? Might just upgrade the HDrive and download the HD quality movies.

    Thx again mate!
