    Hi,

I just bought the N53SV-EH72 (not unpacked yet). It has a 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Quad-Core processor running at 2.20GHz. I am thinking if returning it because it might have a flawed intel processor.

Is the processor in this laptop affected by one of the intel flaws? I see postings from about a year ago regrading flaws in the intel processor, so I'm not sure if the one in my computer would have been made when those flaws were resolved, or if there are new flaws now, or if the flaws of about a year ago were never resolved.

So i don't have to rely on heresay, can someone point to the intel site where it says what chips are affected, and then I can compare to the one I have? Haven't been able to find it.

The flaw was in the chipset, not the processor itself and bad chipsets have long been phased out. Honestly, i've never come across a case where someone reported a flawed CPU. Why would you think it is flawed anyways?

There should be no affected laptops in the wild, unless you bought it used from someone who didn't bother shipping theirs back for replacement after the recall. I'm not even sure if this model came out before the recall or not.

There is a serial number verification lookup here: Change SandyBridge for NB

You can find the serial on the label on the box, or on the bottom of the laptop.

If you already have a machine you are using that you would like to check, there is a software tool here: http://promos.asus.com/US/2011/mb/Identify_unaffected_SATA_port.html
