I have just bought a new ASUS N55SF-S2342V with Windows 7.

For some reason the keys are mapped incorrectly.

For example if I open Notepad:

    Pressing Right Control types /
Pressing Left Control moves Up a line (just like the Up arrow key)
    Pressing Mute button types [
Pressing Up Volume brings up the volume OSD but also types 0 (zero)
Pressing 0 on the number keys at the top of the QWERTY also brings up the volume OSD

    etc

This also happens in other applications such as Windows explorer where Left Control highlights the previous file (just like the Up arrow key)

What can I do? How do I remap the keys?

    Jim

    Update.

An external USB keyboard works perfectly.

Also, the keys in question are actually doing two keystrokes simultaneously. For example Left Control is typing [Up Arrow] and also Ctrl so I can Ctrl+P to print, however the cursor moves up. This makes Ctrl+C copy impossible since the focus of the copy moves!

    Must be a driver issue.

I have downloaded the latest ATK Drivers (ATKPackage_Win7_64_Z100010) and ran the Repair option and nothing has changed.

    Can anyone help?

    Jim

Update your bios to 207 if you are still @ 204 then load bios defaults. It should cure kb issues. If it doesn't install/reinstall the latest atk pakage.

    Thanks!

Is there an easy way to update the BIOS?

I just checked, I am already running BIOS revision 207.

    Any other suggestions?

Have tried uninstalling the ATK package and dl'ing and installing the latest ATK Drivers (ATKPackage_Win7_64_Z100010).

    Same result.

    Anyone?

    Weird
U could try to install the 1.00.0014 version. I'm running it atm without issues.
U could also check/reset win7 keyboard language settings (under Regional and Language settings in Control Panel).

    Thanks Orso.

Have installed the 1.00.0014 version of the ATK package and rebooted.

    Still having the same problem.

I doubt it is a region issue since an external USB keyboard works perfectly..

    Update:

I have rebooted into Safe Mode, and the same problem exists.

This is really making me regret buying an ASUS....

Am doing a full F9 factory reset...

Will update this thread for anyone else having this issue.

Same issue after full 2 hour F9 factory reset.

ASUS support said I needed to ship it back to them.

Poke that, I only bought this laptop 12 hours ago. Am going to return it to the store.

This, combined with my ASUS Transformer's speaker dying within a month means a big, black cross against ASUS.
