Guys, I am looking into purchasing a A1 or X1. The X1 at newegg is going for $1,014.82 with shipping. The A1 can be purchased at powernotebooks.com or xoticpc.com for around $1067.00 with shipping included and also with the IC Diamond compound applied. The A1 also comes with a 500gb 7200rpm drive instead of the 320gb 7200rpm drive in the X1. Do yall recommend getting the paste applied to the cpu / gpu ? How much of an issue is temp on this laptop. powernotebook.com or xoticpc.com good sites to order from? Does applying the paste void warranty? I am looking to spend in the 1000 - 1200 dollar range on a gaming laptop....any other laptops coming out soon I may want to look into ? One other thing...with this having the 5730 card with Directx 11 support...how big of deal is this for future games coming out?
Thanks for all the info.

one by one,
1. getting the paste applied as of now would be a personal choice, as user reviews so far have NOT indicated any heat issues. But at USD35, it is just about making your machine a tad bit safer.
2. As of now, not much of a heat hassle, but it's still too early to form a definitive opinion about heat. Wait till 6-7 feb, and we shall have more info.
3. xoticpc and gentechpc are good ones that i know of. Not too sure of poewrnotebooks which is not to say that they are bad. We have a representative of each of them here on NBR. contact them for queries.
4. If the resellers apply the paste, then it does NOT void the warranty. However if you do it yourself at home, it certainly does.
5. 5730 is a relatively new card and almost no official benchies/ stress tests are available for this. However, as mentioned earlier, a week's wait would clear out many things.
Hope i helped. Good luck finding the right machine. -
Thanks for all the information. Some of the 3dmark 06 scores I have seen on the 5730 is pretty dam good. Seems like a steal for 1000.

You bet it is! If i were you, i would go for the N61JQ-A1.
Best would be to wait up for a week more, and keep following NBR for the latest.
Some guy named kud0s in france has managed to source the machine and is going to update us shortly. -
Oh sweet. I am going to look for his post...I think I saw it earlier.
