There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people - or so they say.... This isn't either, but rather a poll that shouldn't have been created without knowing some background first.... Asus is located in Taiwan and all chassis are made there. Some of the custom systems are then customized whereever you buy it, but techically "manufactured" in Taiwan. You can't create a poll when they are ALL made in Taiwan.......
With that said.... over 95% of all laptops on the face of the earth are MADE in Taiwan. -
Well, a lot of laptops I've seen made by Taiwanese companies are made in China.
*cough* MSI *cough* -

I believe I said 95%.... that leaves 5%...... but your question was Asus... and Asus' plants are in Taiwan.... it's something you can actually research....
EDIT
Actually.... it's as simple as this... you created a poll as if you already knew the answer and just wanted to see who had what, from where. When in fact you should have just asked where Asus made their systems. I know for a fact that most OEM's completely BS people in terms of "origin or manufacture" .... Sony says their computers are made in Japan and yet Asus' plant where they're made is in Taiwan.
Also..... companies like Toshibia for instance run all of their notebooks that go to the middle east through Germany. I have many Kuwaiti and Saudi friends who buy toshibia notebooks because they are told they are made in Germany and "german quality" is just eaten up and they'll pay through the nose for it. On the other hand, they wouldn't buy a thing from Taiwan. Technically it's "legal" to say the "country of manufacture" is actually the last place finally assembly occured.. so if we put a hard drive in a system and then pack it up and ship it - for custom' sake, we could be the country of manufacture..... but so could Taiwan and really they are.
If you look at a laptop as a bunch of pieces, those parts are certainly made in Taiwan..... some times we build up from lcd screens, motherboards, and chassis' and physically build a laptop from parts...... the manufacturing of the "laptop" could the person who assembled it.. or finished the assembly. You can really make it out to be whatever you want, but for you, you actually want to know where this stuff is made. For that, it's very simple and it's made in Taiwan. Taiwan is probably the best place on earth for them to do it also, so it's not exactly a bad word. I wouldn't want the Taiwanese to make my audi, but I wouldn't want the German's to make my notebook either. -
I couldn't find it on their website, so i decided to ask. Thanks though, it really helped my decision. Didn't want to buy something made in china. Never really liked things and their quality that came from china.
The only experience I've had was their recent motherboards, which started to be made in china. That's when I started to question whether I should get an ASUS Z70Va or not. -
MAde in China ,buy th way, taiwan is a part of China
-
although people from taiwan would not consider themselves part of china
-
Don't go off topic guys, this is quite a topic which can go far
-
As a person from Taiwan, I appreciate the recognition of Taiwan's notebook quality, but people, you should know most Asus parts, including chasis, are made in China now, just QC by Taiwanese. Asus only has one plant left in Taiwan and should be closing soon (plan was 2005, but I think it's not completed yet).
Now don't worry too much about whether they are made in China or Taiwan. Like I said, they are all QC by Taiwanese, then and now. They will throw away the bad parts just like before. You really want to be picky with part, buy Japanese laptop -- the ones sold in Japan, not just Sony or Toshiba sold here -- their QC are the toughest customers all Taiwanese manufacturers have to face. -

That chinese plant was supposed to be for the future of their ODM work and that was all...... but at the same time with respect to the chinese, "made in china" doesn't mean what it used to either and now Asus can actually run through place in China and their quality would continue to stay the same... just with cheaper labor. It's not going to lower the cost of the notebooks, but rather allow companies to stay afloat.... margins have been squeezed for years now and nothing was getting cheaper.... so labor may be the way to go.
But as of right now, the asus notebook's are still all in Taiwan..... desktop boards probably aren't, but that's another story....... and as time goes by I'm sure more will change but Asus isn't about to change their quality standards as they know that's what really made them. -
Hey hey hey.... I'm taiwanese, and I really don't like what you're saying Kentuser.
-
low end models are usually made in China, higher spec or recently introduced models in Taiwan. But they're all moving over to the drak side ;-) for profit of course.
-
scowalters ,Hey hey hey.... yes, i know , you can say you are taiwanese now, but somedays later , you have to say you are chinese !
All the people have the right to express what he want to do or want to say, so,nothing to do with me that you said . -
Ok... to close the thread. I know the answer to my question already.
-
Just to weigh in, even high end notebooks can be made in china...which is kind of disappointing. My Acer Ferrari 4005 is made in China, which is why I will take it back soon. I really have bad experience with stuff made in China. They may be good at making my sweaters, but I don't trust them with any technological stuff. Unfortunately its hard to avoid sometimes. And no, I am not Taiwanese.

Anything made for the japanese domestic market is awesome.
Japanese consumers are very smart about reliability and quality. Its daily headline news which products fall apart and when. -
fair poll
Insane -
It's a fact that 75% of all Asus' notebooks are now made in the factory in China, the only notebooks made in the TW factory now are the high end models for example, the W series & S series machines.
-
Guys, it's not what made in China or not.. it's all about Quality Control! Some have higher controls while some dun, which creates LEMONs.

Alot of things can change in almost 2 years

AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
The C series is also produced in Taiwan.
-
someone needs to make a spreadsheet of what notebook are made where. then in a few months we can see IF there are and trends in any lack quality.
-
why don't you just look under the laptop and see where it says it is made from?
-
quanta makes most of their notebooks in malaysia
So thats a large chunk of all notebooks like a third. they are still a taiwanese company.
China taiwan singapore/malaysia, they are all really the same place, they are the far east.
Taiwan and singapore are just shipping centers mostly not the ideal place for a factory. -
