I cant see the reason to pay so much for a chopped down EEE 1000H just to make it a bit smaller...

    Hi ProfessorShred ,

We apologize if we didn't responde to your request sooner. There must be an error because it is our mission to be very responsive to customers and pride ourselves upon it. Let's figure this out. Our emails are archived so we can try to see if we got your email ok. I have no record of you sending us a message via private message. Our general email is [email protected] for sales related questions or [email protected] for product support. If you can spare the time to assist I'd like to know which email did you use to contact us and when it was sent? If you have tried both of those emails and did not get a response, we would like to apologize to you very much, whatever the cause. But at this point we're simply scratching our head so to speak and need your help. Thank you!

Recieved the S101 today, flawless transaction and I saved $170 using live.com search and paying via paypal. Let me just say that NO pics or videos convey just how beautifully built this little gem is...now that I have seen and touched it,I think it is well worth the extra cost.Seek out a dealer in your area and look one over for yourself :>)

I think the 1002HA is more of my style and looks even better. I am not a fan of the SSD models. But some drive speed benchmarks would be nice.

    Hello Vicious,
I am not a fan too, of the SSD models on the netbooks because of the poor performance.Anyone that has read the reviews af all last year netbooks, cas easily realise that the SSD's used have nothing to do with the high perfomance models used in notebooks.

Well, that until the new Asus S101!
Just read the following article on the Italian eeepc site:
    http://www.eeepc.it/benchmark-dei-dischi-delleeepc-s101/

Ok it is in Italian but you can easily see that Hard Tune Pro reports 91,3 MB/sec average transfer rate speed.Impressive for a netbook. The reviewer also reports that it definitely feels extremely fast. Windows boots in 25 seconds. This is as good as it gets.

It is a shame that the capacity is 16GB only.At least the speed is impressive and most encouraging for the future models. ;)

P.S. If you need some translation from Italian to English I will be glad to help you.I am not Italian but I live in Italy and speek Italian fluently.

Thats a good speed, its still not much ahead of notebook hard drives though.

    Actually behind some of them.

Here is the 320gb WD Black:

    Here is 320gb Seagate Momentus:

    http://www.magix-photos.com/mediapo...C/oma/10/5C3A0A7090DE11DD9253601843CC04DF.jpg

And the benchmark for my 250gb drive in my 1000H was even higher but NBR lost my photo!

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1446&ppuser=66895

So in addition to the speeds being very close you get a TON more storage and its cheaper.

I have been told the SSD can be used to boot from.

Is this correct, and does this make the boot process faster?
    Faster than, say, the 1000H?

I intend to use it for live musical use, and fast reboot speeds after a crash would be very handy, as you can imagine.
