I'm debating between the ASUS PL30JT and the LENOVO T410S.

I'm also looking at the Acer 3820T, though the design leaves much to be desired.

I want to start a holistic discussion on the merits (and weaknesses) of each; what would you all choose?

I forgot to mention I'm looking primarily at criteria like durability, battery life, strong performance, professional appearance, and light weight -- features which both notebooks seem to offer.

Seeing how the PL30JT and 3820T aren't even released yet, it would be hard to make comparisons, especially on battery life. However, if the PL30JT has similar battery life to the UL30 series, the Asus would be your best bet for best battery life. Durability wise, there is no doubt the winner will go to the Lenovo T410s as it's magnesium alloy chassis is bound to sustain more bumps and bruises than both the Asus and Acer laptops.
In terms of performance, there's still no word regarding what CPUs are being used in the 3820T. The PL30JT is expecting an i5-520UM which doesn't seem so promising when compared to the i5-520M in the 410s.
