    It's the G1/2S with a 9500M GS & Penryn.

In other words, the same notebook but produces less heat and has more battery.

9300 is I think lower-end, the equivalent of the 8400. But I'm not sure.

yeah, weird if it comes only with 64 bit OS. That'll give some headaches.

I think it's a good move imo. If no one has a 64bits OS, they are not gonna make 64-optimised apps :)

I dunno about the 9300 but the 9500 is a 65nm 8600 I believe. Same specs, same clocks, only a new revision of the G84.

they will come out when the g2s and g1s sell out. asus will not bring them in while they have alot of current inventory. t9300 would be the best value to perfromance chip.

I wouldn't expect too much... I've already seen the new M51Sn reported as having 2:30 batt life, which is the "ASUS golden standard". They just seem to refuse paying any attention to power savings.

I've been looking really closely at the F8SN-A1, B1, C1 models (leaning towards the C1 just for the hell of it). My question though is this: I've been reading the results of the 9500GS video card, what about the new Penryn model F8 series with the ATI video card? I know they're releasing it, but I haven't seen any pre-orders or details on which ATI card will be used and how it's going to compare. Any light anyone could shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Also, to those dealers who scavenger this forum who have seen the new F8SN, is the build the same high quality that the F8SA series was?

    Thanks all...

There is no plan for the ATI version yet, I've seen the M50Sa engineering sample that uses the new ATI card:

    [IMG] [IMG]

    [IMG] [IMG]

    [IMG] [IMG]

    [IMG] [IMG]

It's the lastest ATI GPU because I couldn't find any drivers to install the card but the device manager says it's a ATI card, but when Asus going to release in the US they gonna use nVidia instead of ATI.

Same goes to F8Sn, we have not heard of ATI version yet, so far the F8SV-A1 is now available and it looks exactly the same as F8SV/F8SA.

That's what I thought... was wondering if the HD3650 would be competitive with the 9500GS or if a 9600 model was going to become available in the next 30 days.

I have merged a few threads asking about Penryn release dates & other info into this one. This should be the thread where people ask questions about the release of the new Penryn models.

So, here goes mine: Any info on the release date of the W7Sg?

they would have to alter the chassis in a significant way in order to fit an 8800 in a G1 or G2. I would guess that the current design doesn't have enough space for an adequate cooling solution.

Any reviews for the F8SN-B1? It just came out in Americas and was wondering if anyone has one yet? I am really considering buying this.

Just curious, it is roughly $250 dollars cheaper than the F8SV-B1 yet the F8SN-B1 seems much better. 3gb over 2gb ram, better processor, 9500M GS over 8600 GT graphics.

So what's the catch? Why is it much cheaper?

Im comparing the F8SN-B1 vs F8SV-B1. The SV is more expensive yet from my knowledge has worse specs.

Funny how you respond to my thread, if I buy this laptop, it will be through your website :)

    Bryan,

Our apology, didn't read your post carefully enough. Based on the specs, the F8Sn-B1 should be just as good as the F8Sv-B1, if not only better. Some of you might not agree until you see the benchmarks. We were planning on doing a review for the F8Sn-C1, but since it won't be available for another week or two. I will check with our tech to see if they can run a few quick benchmarks on the B1 model. Thanks!

f8sn-b1 is better for a few reasons
    1. it is much cheaper
    2. the video card is noticeably faster
    3. the cpu is almost as goot as the t7700
    4. it has 3gb ram standard.

that dell you are speaking of is humungous and very expensive compared to what asus offers. Asus is has never entered that market. they concentrate on lightweight, inexpensive, smaller notebooks. they never really made it in the huge 17" or higher 3000$ desktop replacement that you see from clevo (who makes the xps and sagers that you see out there)

In terms of bang for the buck, it's an awesome deal! It is also the best 14" gaming laptop currently available too. On the downside, battery life may not be as long as other notebooks. Expect a little over 2 hours of use when unplugged, but if you'll be working near an outlet most of the time, this should be a problem.

On a side note, customer service and warranty will be second to none, especially if you buy from gentech or btotech. I purchased all my Asus laptops from gentech and can vouch for them 100%.

I dont know what you are talking about. That dell is a size of a G2, a 17'' notebook but equipped with a latest graphic card. And G2s are not that lightweighted. Asus's G1 and G2s are targeted at gamers, the same market that dell is targeted to. Before the 8800GT card came along, G1 and G2 with 8600GT (DDR3) are the better choice comparing to dell's gaming notebook series. Now the situation is reversed, dell has a more powerful one, and the best Asus has now is a G2SG with 8700 card.

i dont doubt the dell with 8800gt is a good 500$ more with the same specs but a better vga card. I dont think you will see asus intrgrate the latest and greatest video card. in the past they never have/

Can someone take a picture of the keyboard on the F8Sn-B1? I have seen alot of pictures of this laptop, but they all seem to have a different keyboard layout. I'd like to see an actual real one (instead of marketing images). It would be nice to be able to tell which keyboard is the one that is actually on this laptop.

I hope its not that upside down L shaped enter key, with the \ key on the wrong side and a tiny left shift key... who thought of that crap? Plenty of other laptops manage to do something close to a normal keyboard.. so I know its possible on a 14" layout :)

I'm bumping up my question (or rather, re-asking it) about the release date of the W7Sg. :) Anywhere. I think usually releases here and in the US or elsewhere in Europe happen at a space of weeks.

If you really need it, I'd say it's not worth the wait. If the U6 has soldered RAM, check if the amount of soldered RAM has changed for the U6Sg (e.g., for the W7S it's 512MB and for the new W7Sg it's 1GB, and that is the only reason I am waiting for it -- besides I already have a computer to work on so I don't really need it).

The rest of the changes come mainly from the die shrink, and won't be really felt in real life I expect.

Sorry to bump this but I have a question about the F8SN-C1 series machines. How does having the power button on the hinge work out? I'd think that it might get bumped in a bag (and having a laptop on in your bag is never good).
