For ASUS notebooks, do the prices ever get any cheaper? Or should I just buy the notebook now?

At the transition between models Asus sometimes issues rebates or adds accessories for free. In general though, no, the prices don't change.

sometimes. But the price doesnt drop that much. Also when models are refreshed with say, a new processor, then the previous ones will drop.

For the bare bones, yes, but for the ENSEMBLE units, the price rarely drops, and only does so if ASUS feels like the demand for the certain unit is not good enough, such as happened with the V6 and W2 series, their original price points were alot higher, but since have dropped a few hundred.

However, in times of 'price drops', it won't happen, since ASUS usually upgrades the specs, in terms of RAM, HD and processor.

Very true... the barebones may go down a few hundred after a while, but the Ensemble notebooks barely ever go down in price. If they do, it will be no more than $100... $200 MAYBE if it's going to be phased out... but rare indeed.
You're best off buying whenever you feel the need... no point in waiting.

the discounts they give you are on the machines you dont want.

the new one they introduced is already better.

What you want is to get the model when its brand new, thats when its stats are the best deal.
I have this opinion based on watching asus notebooks for like 4 months. You want to sign up for a brand new model thats hard to get and be one of the first ones.

Im sorry thats just how they do it. They dont really do it like the other companies they do it a little weird.

No purpose in waiting for what you want to get cheaper. What you do is watch the upcoming news on models and see if what you want is coming up.

Again the other companies dont do it like that asus is weird.

Everything from sales channels to advertising is different about them. They announce WAY in advance whats coming up. within a few weeks theres going to be 20 people a day asking where they can get a g1p and when is it coming out.....
