So I tried updating my R552JV's BIOS from 203 to 208 using the BIOS flash utility on the ASUS website as my laptop seemed to be running hot and I stupidly thought a BIOS update might help.

Everything in program appeared to be fine. Flashed the BIOS, and it restarted the machine. Now it won't boot into Windows at all.

I am constantly taken to the BIOS menu and there are no boot option priorities to select. It says that it has updated to 208 in the BIOS information. I have tried restoring the default settings with no luck.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

Check the hard drive BBS priorities. If your hard drive isn't showing up there (or anywhere in the BIOS utility), then it could be the drive or its connection that's the problem.

Did you install a new drive that required disabling the security locks for windows 8? You may need to go into your bios and change UEFI mode to legacy, as well as disable secure boot. If your new drive was never setup as a secure drive then it will not show up AT ALL if UEFI is active.
