So last August I was in search of a brand new laptop/netbook. My old Dell Studio 15 was slow and outdated (but still works). After some research I decided to go with the Asus Q502LA. The laptop was sleek looking, Core i5 4200u processor, 1080p screen, 8GB Ram...

Anyways I purchased the laptop, few months later. My LCD develops a white spot on the screen. I RMA the laptop and get the LCD replaced. However in the process of fixing the LCD, the careless idiots at BiZCom/Asus repair center. Messed up the hinges and the laptop refused to stay shut when I carried it under my arm.

Fast forward to today, after 2 RMA's they finally fixed the hinges and replaced the brushed aluminum they scratched during the previous attempted repairs. However it looks like the LCD has yet again developed a white spot on the screen.

So I contacted support today and they said that they will contact me within the next 24-48hrs to see if they can process a replacement for my laptop. My question is, has anyone gotten a replacement laptop from ASUS after multiple RMA attempts? If so was the replacement a refurbished laptop, or new?

At this point I don't even know if I would want a new replacement of the same model, because of the LCD issue. I have to say that the repair process was a hassle that I don't want to repeat. Especially if, BizCom is doing the repairs. I remember when I had issues with my Dell Laptops a technician would show up at my door and fix the laptop that day if possible.

By white spot do you mean pixels stuck as white or a bight spot in the back lighting?

That's usually due to the light diffusion layers below the liquid crystal part. Not much you can do to fix it.

Strange that both of my panels on this laptop had the same problem. Never had the issue with my other laptops. Asus contacted me saying they will replace my laptop. So I will send it in and see what I get back.

It does happen and can show only after shipping, seems like you got unlucky sadly.
