    Hi Everyone,

I have an ASUS S300CA that is about 3 months old. Every few days it will randomly shut off as if the battery and power cable were pulled out. It makes a card drive clicking noise like its story in the read head, the screen turns black and it shuts off. Any ideas on what could be causing this or how I can fix it? It usually happens when it's plugged in.

    Thanks!

The noise can points to the cooling fan, or hard drive.
Was the battery level low before this happens? It could be some kind of short, or overheating.
Also, this could be caused by a defective hard drive as I've experienced before.

Thank you for your reply. I don't believe the batter was low. I have a hunch about the hard drive as well.

    Thanks!
