I have Windows 8 installed, Bluetooth appears to be working fine in device manager and within the options. However, the computer can't seem to find any devices. I've installed the latest Atheros driver for Windows 8 on the support page. Any suggestions?

Uninstall the driver and do a manual install of the standalone driver via the Device Manager (you may even want to consider doing this in Safe Mode).

With the driver downloaded and saved somewhere, open up Device Manager, then right click on the device > Update Driver Software... > Browse My Computer > locate folder with driver, then let Windows copy the files over. Sometimes the installer utility is the problem.

I hope this fixes it for you. :)
