Hi everyone,
So my friend's ASUS S56C was unable to start the windows and keep showing reboot and select proper boot device. At that time there still had a post screen and could enter the bios menu.
But after he changed the "Launch PXE OpROM" from enabled to disabled, after pressing on the power button, the power light turns on but there is nothing on the screen. No post screen, no asus logo, nothing. Even pressing F2 or delete continuously there is nothing appeared.
Any help will be appreciated!

But here's hardware reset from ASUS.

But even the OS or HDD are having problems, I can at least see the asus logo on start up and enter the bios menu, right? -

But try the reset first to see if the system can post again or not.
Is the unit under warranty still? If not, then perhaps you can try disconnecting the HDD from the system to see if that would resolve the symptom. -

Think of it as a reset button on your desktop PC. -

Try taking out the any hard drives and see if it will boot.

Disabling PXE ROM - which is just a network boot option - should not cause this, but for future reference for others, you do not need to disable this. It can be moved in the boot priority, which is preferable.
If there is no splash screen at boot and no BIOS access, you can try removing the CMOS battery. If you're under warranty, don't risk it; send it to Asus. -
Hi everyone,
Today, I had exactly the same problem : I changed the pxe oprom option in bios and my asus computer didn't restart. The screen remains blank, the power led is on.
Hitting DEL key didn't change nothing. I'm not able to enter in the bios.
After removing some screws, I reset CMOS battery. But it didn't change anything, always the blank screen. I'm sad, I haven't any ideas left. I read a lot of google results, without success.
Did you fix your problem ? How ? Thanks for your help. -

You would need a BIOS programming device to restore it, or contact ASUS directly for repair services. -
Thanks for your answer.
Yesterday, I wrote to support asus. I'm waiting their response.

Asus support didn't help too much, they want me to send the unit back for repair.
Did you make any progress?
Is there a way to recover the contents of the HDD?
