    Hello to all!!

I have an ASUS 1201PN and the hard drive went out in it the first day I had it, I mean I didn't even have time to create a recovery flash drive. Well, I bought the laptop in the states and brought it to Costa Rica with me and there's no service center here. So what I ended up doing is installing a new HDD and downloading W7 off the net and used the serial number on the backside of the laptop to get up and going (because as far as I know you can't get recovery media from ASUS).

Anyway, the only drivers I have not been able to install are those for the built in media card reader. I stick an SD card in and I get a yellow exclamation point next to WPD filesystemdriver in the device manager.

Hope you guys can help me find what I need AND if anyone has any suggestions as far as me finding recovery media for my little beast would also help.

Have you tried reinstalling the card reader driver?

Well that is part of the problem, I haven't been able to find the correct driver I don't think. When I see that device in the Device Manager, I do uninstall it, and reboot the computer, then the process just starts all over, I insert an SD card and the same device pops up again.

But to more directly answer your question, I have not installed a specific driver... I have a Toshiba Laptop that I get the driver from the Toshiba site, a Fujitsu tablet I get drivers from their site, an Acer laptop I get drivers from their site, but there are no SD reader or 02 Micro drivers on the ASUS site...

I see what you mean, that is a difficult driver to find. I can not vouch for this site, but it appears to have the driver disk for sale.

Have U tried contacting the firm you bought the machine from, maybe they would be willing to burn a copy of the driver disk and send it to you ??

Hard to believe that it is not available on the ASUS site! I could not find it there either.

Well I went to the site and PAID for their cheesy so called driver restore iso disk and it doesn't have half the drivers the system uses, sure it has the basic, but doesn't have a lot of what I got on my own, much less the card reader driver...

    Sorry for not replying earlier.

You should NEVER pay for drivers. They should ALWAYS be free. If you can't find the proper driver of your specific model on the Asus website, try searching under a different model. For the majority of the time, Asus will use the same card readers for different laptops. Furthermore, if a Win7 driver can not be found, try looking for the XP version. Chances are they will still work.

On a side note, you could also have contacted Asus directly regarding the driver.

I am really sorry about that , did you try to ask for a refund? If you have the Alcor Micro USB Card Reader, I have the setup files for it.(win 7 64 bit)
Maybe if this post was moved to the owners lounge for the 1201N (I do not see a lounge for the PN) we can at least get the model of the card reader you have then the drivers should be much easier to find.
If it turns out you do have this reader here is the link where I got it:
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download G73JH
Select your OS and a list will appear.
David, I learn something new every day here, man you are good at this stuff!
