How come it doesn't seem like any of the 2nd gen cores I have seen from ASUS have SSDs?
ASUS is my favorite manufacturer but I hate how you can't really customize them at all since they don't sell directly. Because of this I am leaning towards an HP.

There are several resellers out there that can customize ASUS Laptops with SSD's amongst other custom options.

A big part of this, besides the still more expensive price, is the market. These things are always coming down in price. Asus doesn't want to buy a bunch of drives at X price and loose a ton of money on them after the computer is built but before it is sold. It's just market stability.
