Hey guys I'm looking for a bit of an upgrade to my UL30. I really like this laptop but I really want a slightly higher res screen and maybe even a larger screen with some extra battery life.

So ideally I want the UL30 with less bezel around the display allowing the screen to be bumped to maybe 14", at least a 1440x900 res, and a slight boost to the battery life.

Does anyone know of a successor the ul30 that is out, or in the works or maybe something else that meets these criteria? You'd think that's not too much to ask for after 2 years :)

    Thanks

If you want the direct successor, the U36 would be a appropriate successor.

If you want a higher resolution screen, I'm afraid you'd have to go for either 15" for ASUS, or look for it in other manufacturers' portfolio. ASUS only makes 1366 x 768 for both 13" and 14".

Better battery life than UL30 is going to be hard and higher res screen is going to be hard, the only one that i remeber was the Sony Vaio Z, but it wont get the battery life of the UL30, more like 5 hours, also its bieng refreshed so who knows how much it will be really ( link), according to the review about 5 hours for the new Z, same as the old one, but there is a optional extra battery that will allow 11 hours.

Probably the easiest option is just to move up in size, 14'', something like Lenovo T420 might be worth a look, although i doubt you will get the same battery life as Ul30, but they do offer 1600x900 screen, bigger capacity batteries, among other things.

So this notebook has been out for almost 3 years now... just wondering if there is anything out yet that would be considered an upgrade.

As mentioned above I need the same or better performance, battery life must be at least as good as the UL30 and I would like a higher res screen if possible (willing to go up to 14" for this).
