I have had a UL30V for about a year, and have enjoyed it. Recently, over the past month or so I have noted when using my laptop, the display turns off if the laptop is not touched for 2-3 minutes. It does this regardless of which graphic card is in use. I have gone into the power4g settings and set the display timer/screensaver/sleep/hibernate/etc to "never" and when i check the settings after a reboot they are maintained as I set them, but the display continues to turn off. The display immediately return to normal with any touch of a key or the trackpad. I have updated the powr4g to the latest version via the ASUS website and have turned off the power4g via task manager and either way still have the problem. Even in WMP fullscreen mode it will turn off.
Everything seems to be working normally. Don't know what I'm missing.
    Any ideas?

you probably know this already but just in case:
In Power4Gear -when you set the timer make sure you you click "battery" or "plugged in" profiles -- and that both "turn off display" are set to never

Otherwise Check windows' own power settings

also might it be a screen saver? (the display shouldn't go off but the screen would blank)

all good thoughts, and I have tried them each already with the same result.
    Thanks.

You might try completely removing power4gear and rebooting, then reinstalling the latest. It sounds like your settings aren't sticking. For good measure you can run a disk check to make sure your filesystem is in good condition to rule out a corrupted config file.

completely removed power4gear, rebooted, still turned off. re-installed latest power4gear, rebooted, still turns off. When checked settings are still all set to never turn off display and never use screensaver. disk check shows no errors.

Maybe there is a power saving option in the BIOS setup? Hit F2 immediately when you turn your computer on and see if there is.

have you tried updating the bios?
or even doing a full factory restore? (back up your data first)
