Hi, I have an ASUS UL80VT and I noticed that the processor (Intel SU7300 at 1,3GHz, bus200*4 + multiplier at 6,5) runs quite always at 1,73GHz.
With CPU-Z I see that when pc is unused the processor works at 1066MHz (bus 266*4 + multiplier a 4) while when the pc is used the frequency increases to 1,73GHz (bus 266*4 + multiplier a 6,5).
I want to understand what is the process that let the cpu to work at 1,73GHz and what is the one that reduce the frequency when the pc is not used.
In BIOS I see 1,3GHz, but if I start Win7 in "Diagnostic startup" the CPU works always at 1,73GHz!
Someone can help me to discover these processes?

    Thank you
    Matteo

ASUS has enabled the overclocking on the SU7300 by default to 1.73Ghz. Personally I don't turn it off because 1.73Ghz can really struggle when you throw some CPU-intensive applications at it. You can disable them through ASUS's Power4Gear, and turn off the "Turbo mode" at the bottom.

As for which process that forces your CPU to jump to maximum speed, I'm afraid the possibility is endless.
