    Hi All
I need some assistance with the installation of win7 on the ASUS UX31. (And yes I have tried searching the forum for previous posts on this)

Whether I try to install Win7 via USB or DVD I get an error that says I am missing a CD/DVD driver. I first thought that I was missing the Intel AHCI driver but after installing it I still can not proceed with the installation.

Has anyone had this issue - how can I get around this error?

    Thanks

More Info on the above issue.

A box pops up with the title "Load Driver"
Inside the box is the following statement:

A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the DC/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.
*there are three buttons in the box: Browse, OK, Cancel

This is where I installed the AHCI drivers but the installation will not continue since I do not know what driver the system is looking for.

    thoughts?

go look on asus' website. I had a similar problem with my u36sd. Right after it booted to the installation screen as soon as you hit next it said that i was missing a cd/dvd driver which was messed up. The u36 doesnt even have a dvd drive. Anyways download the intel rapid storage driver from here:

    http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/IRST/IRST_Intel_Win7_64_Z10501026.zip

Extract the zip and put it on the usb drive you were using to install windows. When it asks for the driver, point it to what you downloaded. The installation should work fine afterwords

    Thanks King_Kahn - but no dice :(

I tried the driver you suggested as well as the one off of Intel's web site and both times I received the same error:

"No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media"

If I had to make a guess about the original error, it would be that it is associated with the PCI-E based SSD hard drive. I am guessing that there is a driver is not being shared from asus that will enable the install.

    Anyone else have suggestions?

    Thanks

i forgot to mention NOT to use the usb 3.0 port. You can boot from the usb 3.0 port, but the installation wont see it. Let us know how it goes...

I've got the same problem but seems I've gotten a bit farther.

I've extracted the zip file to the USB drive, it sees the inf file for the SATA AHCI Controler, shows a green progress/scanning bar and then says:
"No devies could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media".

I'm having trouble with it now - I cant install the Instant On utility (amongst other asus utilities). When trying to install is get an error message that says:
"Your computer doesnt have the instant on support built in. The installation procedure is interupted"

Its like the asus utilities dont believe my lappy is an asus.

    Any ideas?

I had an issue when trying to install Power4Gear utility. It said that this "software must be installed on a asus notebook".....duh.... I had to install PowerWiz first then install Power4Gear in order for it to install correctly.

I didnt get one (and dont have an external dvd drive)

I installed PowerWiz and the Power4Gear. Everything seemed fine but whenever I reboot i get an error message saying "P4G only work on Asus computer", or something.

There has to be a way to convice this computer its an Asus! All I really want is the Instant On utility and for the screen brightness to "lock" (I dim the screen, but after a few minutes/waking from sleep/restarting it jumps up to max again.

Strange - I was able to update all of those after a clean install of Windows 7 Pro. The only exception was the TPM-Infineon file (I didn't try to install that).

I am also having the same issue. The UX31 comes with with a ton of bloatware so I decided to do a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate. I can't install the same drivers you list out and receive the same error message.

I'm on hold with Asus support and the guy I'm talking to said he got a call yesterday from someone with the same issue. He has no clue as to what the problem is or how to fix it. He wants me to do a recovery but I refuse to.

Please let me know if someone figured out a way to fix this. I'm not getting anywhere with Asus support.

I was just able to update the bios using the Windows Flash Utility. There are two version of this utility on the Asus download site, the newer one does not work. The older version worked for me.

I'm still having problems with the other drivers/utilities.

Instant on is installed now with the 209 bios. I wasn't able to install instant on until I had the 209 bios update which was done but using the older version of the windows update utility. The asus tech guy I spoke to was useless.
