    Hi Everyone!

I bought the ASUS UX32A about a month ago, and I have been quite disappointed with the keyboard. When I'm typing on it, the keyboard misses a lot of keystrokes - different keys are not being registered when I press them. This happens mostly when I'm typing fast. I'm a pretty fast typer. Writing a few lines in Microsoft Word will almost without doubt result in more than one keystroke not being registered. It seems as if it has nothing to do with the force I use on the keys, but more my typing speed. I have been using many different laptop and desktop keyboards in my time, and I have never experienced the problem before. Even cheap 300 $ netbook keyboards seem far better than this one.

Have any other owners experienced the same problem? I am considering an RMA with ASUS, but I'd like to know if anyone else have experienced the same issues before I proceed.

Since I'm pretty sure, that the keyboard on the UX32A is the same as on the UX32VD I would also like to hear from owners of the UX32VD.

It could be that you're typing so quickly so as to cause ghosting - something most keyboards are prone to, but the extent of it varies. Try testing multiple keys at once using this.

This could be the explanation! Compared to my rather cheap Logitech K360 the UX32A has a lot of key combinations which it does not recognise. For example, if I hold W and R it doesn't recognise E, and if I hold M and K it doesn't recognise the Space Bar. As a matter of fact I'm experiencing a lot of problems with E and the Space bar - though I'm also experiencing problems with a couple of other keys.

This is very frustrating! Are ASUS really putting a crappy keyboard in a modern mid-range laptop!?

Prostar, do you think that a keyboard replacement would ease the problem, or is it just due to a poor design, which will be found in all UX32a machines?

Would still be great to hear from other UX32A and UX32VD owners about your experiences. Are you also experiencing an abnormal amount of missed keys when typing fast on this laptop?

Ghosting is a production problem. Sometimes it's the hardware, and I think it can even sometimes point to the firmware. You can check with Asus to see if they have a firmware update for it! I know some Steelseries keyboards had this problem as well, and now on later models of their keyboards, they advertise that it has been entirely eliminated.

Short answer: it sounds like a design issue and not so much an isolated one. I recommend getting in contact with Asus and prodding them. :)

Thank you for your explanation! I haven't taken the time to contact ASUS yet, but I think I'll do so next week.

I find it really odd that I'm practically the only one on the internet talking about this issue. Am I the only demanding fast typer, who owns a 32A/32VD?

Please anyone who owns a 32A/32VD, tell me what you think of the keyboard!

Well, last time I fed my curiosity, the average words per minute (or WPM) people typed was around 30, with office professionals scoring a little higher (40 - 60 WPM).

If you're doing much more over that, it seems you're definitely a more demanding typer! Hopefully someone else can chime in that owns the machine.

    Good luck!
